Tips for Using the Reading VideosShort ‘A’, ‘E’, ‘I’, ‘O’ & ‘U’ & Mixes: The aim of these videos is to help students learn how to read by grouping words by word family endings. At the end of each of these videos, learners are given the opportunity to practice reading the CVC words unaided. CVC Words Random Mixes: These videos present two different ways of reading CVC words – decoding by individual letter sound and focusing on word endings. These videos can be viewed as a whole, or you can choose to view one method or the other, depending on what works best for your learners. If you would like students to practice on their own at the end, simply mute the volume! CVC Words Themed Mixes: Videos in this set focus on oral comprehension and learners do not necessarily need to be able to read the words shown. The goal is for students to listen to the CVC words in their given context and be able to verbally answer questions, thus developing both their comprehension and communication skills. 2 CVC Words: Because the jump from reading one word on a page to two can be overwhelming for some young learners, this set of videos aims to introduce students to seeing multiple words on a page. The objective of these videos is for learners to develop an awareness of how two words can be combined to form meaningful phrases, and to work on both comprehension and communication skills. Read Book: After watching a reading video, simply click on the ‘Read Book’ button below it to allow students the opportunity to practice reading the accompanying CVC Word Emergent Reader eBook themselves! |
