EMPOWERING THE EDUCATOR WITHIN

30/11/2022

Wanting to empower yourself as an educator but unsure how? Our upcoming book, Empowering the Educator Within: A Guide to Enabling Yourself and Those You Serve, has the answers you seek. Whether you are a classroom teacher, in a leadership position or an educator with a global vision, this book and its accompanying workbook have the tools you need to realize your goals. Written in a “choose your own adventure” style, how you decide to move through the chapters and which parts you explore is entirely up to you and your needs.

Part 1: In the first section educators will be asked to reflect on their whys and what they hope to achieve.

Part 2: This section of the book caters to those in leadership positions, namely administrators and coordinators. In it, educators will learn the secrets to creating a unified and cohesive teaching and learning culture at one’s school or within one’s team through the use of an educational framework and individualized planners.

Part 3: Whether teaching at the primary or secondary levels, whether a mainstream, specialist or language/learning support teacher and whether teaching a straight grade level or split-grade class, this section explores how to create the ideal yearly, unit and lesson planning templates to help achieve your objectives. In addition to exploring different planning tools that can be created, it also delves into how to modify existing planners to further professional development, for co-teaching scenarios and more!

Part 4: For those educators who are district superintendents or who have a global vision they would like implemented, this section explores how one can transform school districts or schools around the world so that they are all moving in the same direction based on one’s philosophy through the use of an educational framework and personalized planners.

Part 5: The chapters in this section address educator needs in general, regardless of position, and cover creating the ideal planning tools in the following areas:

  • classroom setup
  • developing stand-alone programs
  • shifting mindset on a personal, classroom, whole school or district/global level
  • empowering students
  • assisting parents
  • offering meaningful professional development

Part 6: The final section of the book offers space for thought and reflection on all the positive changes one witnesses throughout their journey.
Empowering the Educator Within
Empowering the Educator Within not only comes with filled practical ideas and tools, but its accompanying workbook allows educators to plan out their ideas as they move through the different chapters. Additionally, our upcoming software ESBPlanners has been designed to coincide with the book and all suggested planning tools can be found in our ready-made template bank. Stay tuned for our upcoming teacher resources!

PLANNING TOOLS FOR CO-TEACHING - ESBPLANNERS

22/11/2022

With the many benefits of co-teaching it’s no wonder that many educators are wanting to head in this direction and are exploring the different methods of doing so. Theoretically speaking, pairing up with a colleague may seem like an easy process, but it’s often hindered by the lack of proper planning tools to ensure success, which is where ESBPlanners come in. No matter which method of co-teaching you are interested in implementing, our upcoming software can assist as it allows for seamless collaboration between multiple teachers. Below are a few examples of templates that can be created using our program and how they can be used.
Planning Tools for Co-Teaching - ESBPlanners

1. Team Teaching or Parallel Teaching:

In a team or parallel teaching situation, a shared template such as the one below can be created, allowing for both teachers to plan out learning outcomes, learning activities, assessments and materials for the lesson. During/after the lesson, both teachers can be commenting on the progress students in Group A and Group B are making and these notes can then be used to inform the direction the next lesson should take.

2. Alternative Teaching:

For those interested in following the alternative teaching method, a lesson planner like the one below can be created to allow the teacher that is offering support to add their outcomes, and to differentiate/scaffold learning activities and assessments as necessary. In using this shared document, two teachers can easily stay in sync and ensure that students are receiving the support they need during each and every lesson.

3. Station Teaching:

If the station teaching model is the route you want to take, ESBPlanners will allow you to create a shared planner like the one below that allows both teachers to plan learning outcomes, learning activities, assessments and materials for each station. As the students are moving through the stations, teachers can add comments about their observations either during or after the lessons.

Not only do ESBPlanners allow teachers to easily plan collaboratively, but its other time-saving features, such as access to our uploaded curriculums or the ability to create your own, ability to copy and paste between multiple open templates, and draggable cells/rows make it a powerful platform for any educator. PLANNING TOOLS FOR BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT TEACHERS - ESBPLANNERS

14/11/2022

While many software platforms offer teachers ways to better plan and organize their lessons, those educators offering behavioural support are often overlooked and thus not supported with the proper planning tools to document behaviours taking place in the classroom. When developing ESBPlanners it was our mission to ensure that no matter what role a teacher plays at a school, they have what they need to be able to best assist the learners they work with, which is why our program is designed with the capability to design any planning tools one requires. Below are a few examples of the types of documents those offering behavioural support can create or access/modify from our bank of premade templates.
Planning Tools for Behaviour Support Teachers - ESBPlanners

1. Observation Form Templates

Forms to document and record the frequency of behaviours observed in the classroom can easily be created and saved/printed for future reference. Spaces for parents to sign and add their comments can also be added.

2. Monitoring Behaviour Templates

Once a behaviour plan has been developed and put into place, a form such as the one below can be created to note observations on a daily basis in different subject areas. These can be filled out by support staff alone, or the template can be shared with the teacher(s) so that they may add their notes in the form of a collaborative planner.

3. Strategy Evaluation Templates

Another type of form that can be created is for documenting if the strategies put into place are working, like the one in the sample below. Online or printed copies could then be shared with the teacher(s) when discussing next steps.

In addition to being able to create or modify existing templates, ESBPlanners also offers the ability to do the following:

1. Add Behaviour Outcomes to Software:

Our curriculum uploader allows support staff to enter their own behaviour outcomes.

Once entered these outcomes can be accessed when creating cells on a planner from a drop-down menu from which objectives can be checked off as they are met, as demonstrated below.

2. Share Cells with Teachers:

Another handy tool for those offering behaviour support is the ability to pick and choose individual cells from a template to share with teachers, thus ensuring that they are not overwhelmed reading through parts of documents that may not pertain to them. The shared cell feature also allows teachers to communicate with support staff should they have any comments to add without altering an entire document.
